What is Counselling? Counselling provides a safe, supportive environment for you to express your frustrations, feelings and needs.  It provides an opportunity for you to recognise and change beliefs and patterns that maybe limiting you. It gives you skills to become more empowered.

What is a Mental Health Social Worker? An accredited Mental Health Social Worker is a social worker who has been assessed by the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) as having specialist mental health skills and knowledge.

What can a Counsellor or Mental Health Social Worker help me with? A wide range of issues, these are just a few examples --- relationship problems, a crisis, loss, grief, stress, anger, conflict, bullying, low self esteem, parenting problems, pregnancy issues, work problems -- and much more. If a problem is causing you distress and stopping you from being happy and functioning well it is worth talking to a qualified professional and obtaining some help.

How many consultations will I need? There's no correct number for the right number of consultations. Now and then one visit gives you all you need.  Generally, anywhere between 3 and 8 consultations are required. Appointments are either weekly or fortnightly.  Some clients may wish to opt for a long term arrangement for ongoing support through an particularly difficult time.

How long are Counselling consultations? The initial appointment is 60 minutes. Follow-up appointments are between 50 and 60 minutes.

Can I claim back the fees on my private health fund for your counselling service? No - not at this point in time.

Can children have Counselling? Yes, Tricia sees children. If she feels the situation is outside her field of expertise she will refer the child to another counsellor or other professional.
